WHAT'S IN A NAME?
Lots! I chose this name, despite its inherent marketing flaws, to continuously
remind me of my primary purpose in life.
Vajra
The logo I have chosen is an abstracted version of the Vajra Cross,
a potent symbol in Tibetan Buddism. It's meaning has many layers, but
at it's essence is indestructible clarity of mind. Vajrayana is a state
of enlightenment, harmony and presence in the moment, free from the
sway of emotions and thoughts. This philosophy is called the Diamond
Way... clear, sharp and indestructible.
On a less philosophical level, the Diamond Way appealed to me as the
grand and great-grand daughter of jewelers, whose favorite song and
nick name in college was "Crazy Diamond"... as in Shine On You Crazy
Diamond by Pink Floyd. Naturally, I chose Vajrayana as my stage
name for ethnic dance, and Raqs Vajra for my burgeoning dance troupe.
Vision
Almost explains itself... I'm predominatly visual, and drawn to visual
media. My father is a photographer, my aunts are painters, my avocation
is videography, my vocation is finance and marketing, but my PASSION
is writing, screenwriting to be specific. I am a writer. Possibly not
a great one, but writing brings me joy and peace of mind. Writers are
visionaries. They write words to communicate and recreate visions in
the mind of another. What a beautiful thing that is.
My final reason for choosing Vision is visualization, guided imagery
and the Native American custom of taking a spiritual journey, or vision
quest. That's what I'm on; a quest to fulfill my vision as a writer,
which I believe will enevitably lead to producing or directing, or both.
WHO'S BEHIND IT?
Allow me to formally introduce myself. I am, S. Suzanne Workman,
woman at large in the world. You can learn a great deal about my many
facets if you poke around this site long enough. I hope you enjoy, or
are at least mildly amused by, this little glimpse inside my brain.
DHARMA PATH
As I make my way through this dualistic world, I continuously search
for my way to help understanding, compassion and love flourish in the
world. I believe my communication skills and creative talents form the
path on which I journey.
UNIFYING PRINCIPLE /Prime Directive/Main Motivation Man... You
dig?
I believe in love. Love of self, humanity and the universe. Everything.
Everyone.
Why?
Love inspires compassion, empathy, and understanding. Love is good chemicals
in the hypothalamus. Love is spectrum of gray between black and white
judgements. Love is embracing it all, joy and sorrow.
Love is growth. Love is acceptance. Love is empowerment.
Sounds hopelessly cornball and sappy doesn't it? Well think about this...
~How much productivity do you contribute to the company valuation and
GDP after your boss projects a judgement trip on you for something he/she
did?
~How well did you do on that Algebra test in high school after your
boyfriend/girlfriend dumped you?
~How compassionate do you feel toward a homeless person who has nowhere
to urinate except behind your car?
~How empowered do you feel to contribute to society when a someone ridicules
your vulnerabilities to bloat themselves with self-importance?
See what I mean. If you have love in your life from any source, you
can give love and show compassion.
It's a tough, raggedy ole, dualistic world out there. And, I have found
no single tonic that works for everyone, everywhere all the time like
LOVE. Even other species of plants and animals respond to it. No governmental
structure, economic system or technology of any kind can do what LOVE
can do. If you find something better, let me know. (And no, Zoloft doesn't
count.)
